CORRECTION INFORMATION MEMORANDUM

TO:    State Agencies and Indian Tribes/Indian Tribal Organizations Administering Title IV-B of the Social Security Act

SUBJECT:    Joint Planning for Title IV-B, Child Welfare Services: Correction

LEGAL AND RELATED REFERENCES:    Section 422(b) (1) of the Social Security Act; 45 CFR Part 1355 and Sections 1357.10 and 1357.20

CONTENT:    Attached is a corrected copy of IM-84-22, dated November 16, 1984. (Tabs B through F not attached)

The correction deletes the requirement/assurance that the agency administering title IV-B, Child Welfare Services, must be the same as the agency administering the title XX program. When title XX was amended to establish the social services block grant, the reference in section 422 (b) (1) to section 2003 (d) (1) (C) became invalid.

The corrections are made as follows:

1. The language of the first assurance on page five is revised to delete this requirement.
2. A conforming change in Tab A deletes the same requirement.
